The best way to get to the hotel is to drive, or take a plane from to Mafikeng Airport on SA Airlink. Taxis from Mafikeng Airport to the hotel cost 120 ZAR. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around.
The best way to explore the area around the hotel is by car.
Driving directions. From Johannesburg Airport take the R24 to Johannesburg. Take the N1 north to Pretoria. From the N1 north take the N14 to Krugersdorp. Continue along this roa d through Ventersdorp until Coligny. At Coligny, take the R503 to Lichtenburg. Follow the R503 through Lichtenburg until Mafikeng. On entering Mafikeng, the R503 becomes Nelson Mandela Drive. Continue straight along Nelson Mandela to the sixth traffic light and the Protea Hotel Mafikeng is on the right-hand side. From Mafikeng Airport, exit the airport area and turn left into Bray Road following the Mafikeng sign. Continue on this road until the first four-way stop.
Turn left into Setlogelo Road. Follow this road - passing the stop streets and the traffic lights. Go over the railway line, and the road becomes Dr Albert Luthuli Drive. Continue on this road until it ends at the Mmabatho Tusk entrance. Turn right into Nelson Mandela Drive and continue along this road. At the first traffic light turn left. Protea Hotel Mafikeng is on the left-hand side.
